Oral Hygiene at Pearl Smile Dental Group

Maintain a healthy smile with regular dental hygiene visits

Our dentists will always need to carry out an initial new patient examination, but after you have been checked you can simply book future appointments with our dental hygienists who will look after your teeth and gums, ensuring you maintain that clean and healthy smile. Appointments are only 20 minutes long, but can be extended to 30 minutes or 40 minutes dependent on the dentist or hygienist, and you can visit more often than the minimum recommended twice yearly.

What Happens at an Oral Hygiene Appointment?

Oral hygiene appointments are more than just advising you how to clean your teeth properly. We will check if your gums are healthy or receding and at the beginning stages of gum disease. If left untreated, the condition will worsen and could result in the loss of one or more teeth. Our hygienist will check for any redness, inflamed or bleeding gums.

Oral Hygiene Advice

Flossing in between teeth and brushing regularly will help prevent the build up of deposits left in the mouth after eating. Lack of practicing good oral hygiene will encourage bacteria to form within pockets around the teeth and gum line. This bacteria then hardens and plaque develops which needs to be removed.

Bacteria can also cause bad breath, known as halitosis. Your oral hygienist at Pearl Smile Dental Group will not only scale, clean and polish your teeth, but will educate patients on how to look after their own teeth including providing necessary dietary advice to minimise sugar intake or foods and drinks that discolour white teeth.

If you would like to book an oral hygiene visit, please call your nearest Pearl Smile Dentist and speak to one of our friendly reception staff. Alternatively, you can fill in the enquiry form on this page and a member of our dental team will contact you shortly.
